ARE YOU A DOG OR PUPPY OWNER?
Dog obedience classes will assist you and your family to develop a safe, fulfilling relationship with your dog.
WHEN: Classes are held each Sunday from February to November (Click Here for Class Times) EXCEPT on long weekends. Modified classes will be conducted whenever it is considered necessary because of weather conditions. If in doubt, please phone the club on 8268 5046 to ascertain if training will take place.
WHERE: The Woodville Community Dog Training Centre,
FORMAT: We use a reward based training program; rewarding behaviour you want repeated and ignoring or diverting behavour you do not want. We have a special Puppy Class for those extra young dogs (under 6 months). At this extremely important stage in your puppy's life he/she will learn basic exercises and how to socialise with other dogs and people.
IMMUNISATION: Puppies and dogs may commence once they are immunised against Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus (Protech C3 or equivalent).
RULES: Members are required to read the Club Rules before commencing training (Click Here for Club Rules).
NEW MEMBERS: If you are thinking about joining the club, it is recommended that you come to one of our introduction classes which are held at 9:30am every Sunday (except public holiday weekends). There is no cost to attend an introduction class, which runs for approximately 30 minutes. The introduction class will help you decide whether the club caters for you and your dog's needs. The introduction class is run by Claire Lowe, the club's President, and you can ask her as many questions as you like. Please read the 'Introduction Class' page on our website to see what you will need to bring with you to the introduction class. Please note, you are required not to bring your dog to the introduction class.
If after attending the introduction class you
think that the club is for you and your dog, you are welcome to join up as a
member at the Registrar located in the club rooms. The prices can be viewed on
the 'Membership and Fees' page on our website. The club now has a range
of activity equipment, which most instructors allow time for during their
classes and we find both the dogs and owners love the equipment.
It is important that new members read the information available on the following pages before attending the club: Introduction Class, Rules and Membership & Fees.
